Our Story

Our Story: Creating Safer Spaces, One Home at a Time
We’re Nick and Stacy, a husband-and-wife team of 20 years, parents, homeowners, and founders of Secure Spaces - a locally owned small business in Blue Springs, Missouri committed to helping aging adults live safely, independently, and confidently at home.
Our journey didn’t begin in Blue Springs~ it began in rural northern Iowa, where we built our lives, raised our children, and developed careers rooted in home safety, public safety, security, health, and skilled trades. After decades of hands-on experience in senior health, emergency response, home safety, and corporate risk management, we knew we were meant to do something more meaningful. So, we made the bold decision to leave behind the familiar, move to our new community, and build something that could make a real difference.
Secure Spaces was born out of a dream to combine purpose with expertise, to turn our skills into positive impact. What began as reviewing homes for safety and security risks has grown into a full-service offering that includes home modifications, senior-focused handyman services, and ongoing home maintenance solutions for those in the KC metro. Our mission is simple:
To help aging adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the homes they love.
Why We Do What We Do
Because everyone deserves to feel safe at home, especially our aging loved ones.
For us, Secure Spaces isn’t just a business. It’s personal. It’s a calling.
We’ve seen firsthand how quickly a once-safe home can become full of risks for aging adults. We’ve heard the worry in a daughter’s voice and seen the fear in a caregiver’s eyes. Our seniors are one of the most vulnerable (and too often overlooked) populations in our communities.
That’s why we do what we do. Our mission is to help them stay in their homes, not just longer - but safer, stronger, and with more dignity. To give families peace of mind. To provide kind, honest, respectful service rooted in compassion, not profit. To bring real solutions, not band aids.
We do this because we care.
Because we believe in doing work that matters.
Because we know how important home is-and how powerful it can be to feel safe there.
Secure Spaces was born from a dream, built with experience, and driven by heart.
This is our purpose.
This is our why.
